Uses | Autocamtide-2-related inhibitory peptide (AIP) is a synthetic peptide that inhibits calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaM kinase II). It is a nonphosphorylatable analog of autocamtide-2. The Autocamtide-2 Related Inhibitory Peptide controls the biological activity of calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II. |
The importance of the individual amino acid residues of AIP (KKALRRQEAVDAL), a highly specific inhibitor of calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII), was studied. Replacement of Arg6, Gln7, or Ala9 by other amino acid residues produced a marked increase in the IC50 value.
The expression of many staphylococcal virulence factors are regulated by the agr locus via a two-component signal transduction system (TCSTS), which is activated in response to a secreted autoinducer peptide (AIP).
